Should all KIAAA members vote on classification forum topics as opposed to only those attending the Spring Conference.

Classification Forum topics have always been provided by any/all KIAAA members to be be discussed at the KIAAA Annual Meeting and Conference.  Traditional those topics have been clarified, discussed, and debated during a general session meeting at the conference, and then voted on immediately thereafter.  Since that vote takes place after that session, one needed to be present in order to vote.  It has generally been felt that there was important dialogue that occurred during the session and this is why the vote has excluded those not in attendance.  However, the BOD of the KIAAA is considering changing this practice so that all KIAAA members vote on classification forum topics, whether they are in attendance at this general session or not.  This is not to say the BOD feels this face-to-face dialogue is any less important than it has been in the past.  But perhaps a higher percentage of AD input might carry more weight when proposals are made to the KSHSAA Executive Board.  What is your opinion on this?

  2. Opening it up is a middle ground. KIAAA members are more likely to be educated and have a vested interest in the voting matters. While it may not be as effective as face to face discussion, the proposals and rationale could be provided electronically to members so they could be more informed than the entire AD group (non KIAAA). It provides for more overall votes while still protecting the integrity/benefits of the membership
